He was born in Leadville, Colo. on July 12, 1912, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zaitz. In 1939 he married the former Irene Schmeltzer, from whom he was later divorced.
He moved to the town of Vilas as a child and lived in Langlade County until 1966 when he moved to Oshkosh.
He was employed by Dun-Rite Construction and the Trade-well Co.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Wilson of Wausau, Mrs. Darlene Boyles of Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Sandra Weisgarbor of Los Angeles; two sons, Allen of Wausau and Randy of Wacolt, Wash.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Chadek of Pelican Lake and Mrs. Helen Malish of Deerbrook; and a brother, Joseph of Pelican Lake.
A sister and three brothers preceded him in death.
