Robert Barefield, age 75, of Russellville, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Little Rock. A son of the late Earl W. and Nora Jane Austin Barefield, he was born January 13, 1927, at Atkins, Arkansas. He was retired from Cogswell Motors, where he had worked on diesel trucks, was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Russellville. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd and Marion Barefield, and two sisters, Pauline Spencer and Eula Taylor. Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Wilma Barefield; two sisters: Nina Barefield of Russellville; and Mary Geneva Jennings of Clarksville; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be 2 P.M., Saturday, May 4, 2002, at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Fred Warner and Rev. Earl Stapleton officiating. Burial will be in St. Joe Cemetery near Atkins, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Active pallbearers will be Donny and Randy Barefield, James Jennings, and Kim, Doug and Chris Virden. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Isbell, Russell Thomas, Paul Hunnicutt, Dewey Traylor, Danny Stahl, Jim Hill, David Troglin and Kenny Hollowoa.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M., on Friday evening, at the funeral home.
