Dearly loved CRETHA MARY CHAPMAN GRANT, (Cie), born on December 30th, 1939, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 17th, 2022, surrounded by family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Mack & Iva Chapman; sisters, Mildred Chapman and Iva Louise Orender; brothers, Roy M. Chapman (Evelyn) and Lynn Chapman (Glenda).

Cretha is survived by her beloved, devoted husband, Aubrey D. Grant and her children; son, Aubrey Royce Grant (Brenda), Lutz; daughter, Cheri Lynne Grant, Riverview; and her granddaughter, Alexandra "Ali" Grant Nelson (Adam), Michigan; grandson, Taylor R. Grant, Land O'Lakes; grandson, Morgan Scott (Kristi), Riverview; her brother, Tyrone Chapman (Margie), Wauchula, her sister-in-law, Mary Alice Tillman (Billy), Dunnellon; along with numerous loving nieces and nephews; and family by marriage – Royce and Brenda - grandchildren Angela (Lee), Jessica (Lee Allen), and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kensley, Luke, Brody and Ellie; Cheri's family Ellen Martin and Grandpa Ric Martin, Winter Haven and many others that called her Mom and Grandma.

Cretha was born and reared in Brooksville, Florida, a graduate of Hernando High School. She and Aubrey, having been sweethearts after Aubrey graduated while she was still in school, were married the next month after her graduation on July 31st, 1957. They then moved to Riverside, California, where Aubrey was serving in the USAF. In 1958 they moved back to Florida to settle in Tampa, where Aubrey was employed with the City of Tampa Fire Department. Cretha was always very proud of being married to a fireman and loved the fire department.

She was a homemaker, raising her beloved children and eventually working as a cosmetician for Eckerd Drugstores. As her children grew older, Cretha became the Executive Secretary to Lucille Cochran, the Executive Director of Krewe of Venus social organization. Cretha worked side by side with her "second mother" Lucille for over 20 years. She then went on to work as Receptionist, and later in Guest Services for the Tampa Convention Center. She received several awards for her services while working at TCC.

Cretha and Aubrey, being longtime members of the Miracle Center World Outreach Church in Tampa, she loved serving in her church and helping those in need and less fortunate than she; always having time to share the love of Jesus and care for others. After their retirement, she and Aubrey went on to spend some of their happiest, rewarding times when they had the opportunity to travel; volunteering with the Billy Burke Ministries. Cretha was so excited when this desire she had expressed at the age of 12 years old – to travel with a ministry and help people – became a reality. She loved the Lord with all her heart and with a deep compassion she truly loved people. She felt privileged to travel with the ministry and continue to serve at the Tampa Convention Center until an accident forced her to leave the position she enjoyed so much.

Aubrey and Cretha, after having lived more than 47 years at their home in Tampa, then built a new home at their Blueberry Farm in Lutz in 2006, where Cretha assisted Aubrey with their Blueberry Farm they had started in 1995. Cretha was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always expressing how blessed she was. She had such a loving heart for her family, and treasured them all, always preparing meals for the many special family occasions and celebrations; their home was always teaming with life and laughter. Cretha always put her husband and her family first ahead of herself and relied on Jesus Christ throughout all her days. She and Aubrey were married for more than 64 wonderful, Jesus-filled years. There is only one Cretha Mary Grant… and she will be missed by all.. but one day.. we will see her again.

The Memorial Service will be officiated by Pastor Billy Burke at 11:00am on Monday, April 25 at Land O' Lakes Church of God, located at 8337 Land O Lakes Blvd, 34638. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Following the service, a committal service will take place at 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to Billy Burke World Outreach, Metropolitan Ministries, or Life Path Hospice.
