Mr. Gillis was 61 years of age, was a native of Ireland, but had come to America many years ago. For the past 17 years he had been an employe of the Standard Oil plant here, and he was prominent in the Zachary community.
He leaves his wife and eight sons and daughters.
NOTE: His death notice in the State Times Advocate of 7 Jul 1930 says he was buried in the Shaw Cemetery.
NOTE: His oldest two daughters are by his first wife, Emma Isabelle Strehle.
