Anna Goetsch, Obituary, 1902.

The death of Mrs. Anna Goetsch occurred at 8:30 o'clock this morning at her home, 1008 West Ninth Street, Davenport. Death was a result of a stroke of paralysis, which she sustained two days ago. Mrs. Goetsch was an old resident of Davenport, having lived in the city since 1862. She was born in Probstei, Germany, Dec. 6, 1829, and married Hans Goetsch in 1851. They resided in Germany 11 years after their marriage and there the two oldest sons were born. They removed to America in 1862, coming directly to Davenport, where they have resided ever since. Mr. and Mrs. Goetsch celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year. Besides her husband she is survived by seven sons, Henry, Jochim N. Julius J., William, Ernst, John and Herman, and also two sisters, one residing at Sabula and the other Mrs. Edith Malchau of Chicago. There are also a number of grandchildren surviving her. Anna Goettsch, Obituary, 1902.

The death of Mrs. Hans Goettsch, one of the old residents of this city, occurred this morning at the family home, 1008 West Ninth Street. It was the sort of death that most people think they would like to have some to them, when come it must. The lady was found dead. She was sitting in her chair in a grape arbor at her home. There was nothing to indicate that there had been any struggle at the last moment. The end had been a peaceful, and apparently as painless, as any other sleep that might have overcome her. Mrs. Goettsch was born 73 years ago in Germany. Some 45 years ago she came to this city with her husband and has lived here ever since. She is survived by her husband and seven sons. She leaves a good name behind her and in her swift departure, she is mourned by many people. The arrangements for the funeral have not been made.
