Gregory was born in Warren County on December 3, 1955. He received his early education in the Warren County Public Schools. Gregory became a member of Mt. Zion No.1 Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized at an early age by Reverend Hosie Phillips. Later he became a member of SpringRidge Missionary Baptist Church of Edwards, pastored by Elder Bryan Davis where he served faithfully as an usher until his health began to fail.
On April 8, 2022, Gregory answered God's call into eternity at Merit Health Hospital in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by: his father, John Dart, Jr., paternal grandparents, John Dart, Sr. and Jessie Mae Dart; maternal grandparents, Jack and Marie Anderson; sister, Gayle Dart Tolliver; three aunts, Shirley Dart, Jerelean Anderson and Gladys Anderson; five uncles, Eugene Dart, Ronnie Dart, Ardaliva Dart, John Anderson and Ferdia Anderson.
He is survived by: his wife, Colby R. Fisher; mother, Jackie Dart Lewis; children, Greg (Darlene) Funches Dart of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Letoya (Ruther) Allen and Nicole Fisher of Utica, Mississippi, Justin and Lylen Fisher of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, India Dart, Taylor Allen, Ashton Saleh, Nyomi Fisher, Micah Dart and Jada Lee; brothers, Franklin Singleton of Edwards, Mississippi, Patrick (Carolyn) Dart of Bolton, Mississippi, Tracy (Vernell) Dart of Vicksburg, Mississippi and Johnnie Dart, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois; one uncle, Charles Dart of Tacoma, Washington; five aunts, Bettie Jean Hoskin of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Norma Jean Brown of Killeen, Texas, Josephine Anderson of Edwards, Mississippi, Irma Kendrick and Ever Jean Jackson of Los Angeles, California, and Willie (William) Bishop of Chicago, Illinois; brother-in-law, Harold Tolliver; and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
