Martha L. Bentley, age 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at Diversicare of Haysville, in Haysville, KS. She was born September 4, 1921, in Wichita, KS. She Graduated from Campus High School in 1939, and then four years later in 1943, married Ralph Edward Carrell. Following Marriage, they had four children: Anita born February 3, 1947, Larry born October 12, 1949, Dwight born on June 10, 1951, and Theresa born on October 8, 1953. Throughout Martha's life, she had survived a great deal of things. She was alive during the Second World War, in which her husband fought in. She also lived through the Great Depression. Martha, was a secretary for the base commander at McConnell Air force Base, and retired in 1975. After Retirement, Martha and her Husband moved across the United States multiple times, to spend time with their family. They moved to Oklahoma in 1975, to be close with their oldest, Anita. In 1986, her and her husband moved to California, to be close with their youngest, Terry. In 1995, Ralph Edward Carrell died, leaving Martha no choice to move back to Wichita, KS to be with her two sons, Larry and Dwight. Four years later, she remarried, and later divorced Eldon Sayer. During her life, she enjoyed playing piano, accordion, and singing in a church choir. She tended to her garden and enjoyed canning her homegrown vegetables. Martha had a warm-heart, would help anyone in need, and loved like no other. She lived out the rest of her years with family and friends, in Haysville, KS, until she died in April, 2005.
