Funeral services for Wanda Yvonne King will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, in the Lake Cove Baptist Church with Revered Cody King and Revered Ervin Goodman officiating. Committal service will follow in the Turkey Creek Cemetery under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and on Saturday, April 16, 2022, from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the Lake Cove Baptist Church.
Wanda, 84, of Lake Cove Community, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, in the Mercy Regional Hospital, Ville Platte. She was born on June 6, 1937, in Lake Cove to Herbert Hazelton and Leacy Clark Hazelton. She was a member of Lake Cove Baptist Church, worked at Prairie Manor Nursing Home for several years, and loved reading and doing puzzle books. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Wanda was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She is preceded in death by her: parents; husband, Gerald L. King; three daughters, Alana King, Charmaine King, and Betty King; two brothers, Marion Hazelton, and J.D. Hazelton; two sisters, Verlie King, and Betty Jane Johnson; one grandson, Christopher McWhirter; one great grandson, Daniel (D.J.) Mouton precedes her in death.
She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory: three sons, Winczel (Linda) McWhirter of Turkey Creek, Marek (Lynn) McWhirter of Pine Prairie, and Shelby (Janine) King of Lake Cove; one brother, Nolan Hazelton of Crooked Creek; one sister, Virginia Carter of Clearwater; nine grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Clayton McWhirter, Justin Mouton, Shelby (Shubby) King, Corby Hazelton, Silton Hazelton, and Sidney Clark. Alternate pallbearer will be Dusty Clark.
