Martha "Patsy" Andrews was born 30 March 1837 in Chariton County, Missouri, to James Andrews (1787 – 1870) and Sarah (Sarah) Gregory (1797 – 1850). Note there is often confusion around her parents noting that they were James Andrews and Sarah Sally Beatty – this is incorrect.

The Andrews family moved from North Carolina around 1830 into what was then Howard County, Missouri, probably near Glasgow since it had a fort for protection. It appears that other Andrew family members did the same; a number of them lived near each other in Chariton County in the 1850s.

"Aunt Patsy" as she was known later in life married Jacob Conrad (1832 – bef 1890) around 1855 in Chariton County. The family had 15 children per the Family Bible as well as newspaper reports of Patsy's death. At the time of her death 5 were living. She was known as "Grandma Pat" to her grandchildren. My grandmother referred to her as "Granny Pat".

Patsy died on 18 July 1911, in Missouri Township, Chariton County, and was buried in the family cemetery. In the day, evidently, there was a Conrad Family cemetery in Missouri Township, however, based on reports that graveyard is defunct. Most likely it was eroded and swept away due to various Missouri River floods in the area and farmers plowing under fields and remnants. This is before the river was properly aligned by the Missouri Corp of Engineers. My cousins believe that they had visited this cemetery at one point and saw headstones buried in the river muck near the old riverbanks and flooded area. For convenience, we have used the Ballenger-Conrad Family Cemetery as the burial reference. (Of interest, the newspaper death description for her notes burial in the "family cemetery".)
