1st Lord of Quinta das Murtas. Brazilian-Portuguese diplomat and politician. He was a legitimised son of Emperor Pedro I of Brazil and his mistress and lover, Maria Benedita de Castro Canto e Melo, Baroness of Sorocaba. He was given the surnames (Delfim Pereira) of his mother's husband, Boaventura Delfim Pereira, Baron of Sorocaba, who had died in 1829. His father recognised him as his son in his will and gave him a part of his inheritance.
