She married Fred Leggett May 23 1907 in Wichita, Sedgwick, KS. They had two children: Birdean and Orville Gordon.
Rachel was an amazing lady. Her family moved from Missouri to Kansas in a covered wagon when she was a young child. When she was in her 80's she flew from Wichita to California and met up with cousins. She went wading in the ocean, took a trip to Nevada to gamble. She won $20.00 and refused to gamble further saying that she had money to make new kitchen curtains. She had a sense of adventure and a sense of humor and was very much admired by her grandchildren.
Like many women of her generation, she was quite accomplished with her needlework: knitting, crochet, and embroidery.
