Catherine F. Baumgartner (Hafey), Age 91, died peacefully on April 5, 2022 after an extended illness. She was born on July 9, 1930 in Duvall, OH, to the late Edward and Carrie (Mossman) Hafey. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years; Donald "Bummy" Baumgartner; brothers James (Carol) Hafey, Donald Hafey, and Herman Hafey; sisters Marie (Richard) Sprang and Dorothy (Merritt) Lindig; and son-in-law Jim Fisher.

"Kate" as she was fondly known, graduated from Hamilton Township High School in 1948. She was a lifelong Lutheran having been a member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lockbourne, OH, and later at St. John Lutheran Church in Grove City, OH. Kate retired from Beulah Park and Scioto Downs after 30 plus years. She was a member of Grove City Historical Society, a volunteer at Franklin Park Conservatory, election poll worker in Grove City, and a Red Cross blood donor. She was also a cub scout leader, a girl scout leader, and P.T.A president. Kate enjoyed spending time with family, spending time in Florida, gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed going to OSU football and basketball games with Bummy. (She actually "chickened" out going to the "snowbowl" game. She also enjoyed baking many kinds of cookies and was well known for her "painted" sugar cookies. That tradition has been passed down to her daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to St. John Lutheran Church; Grove City, OH or Shriners Hospital for Children at lovetotherescue.org. Thanks to Shriners Hospital, Catherine was able to walk for the first time at the of age of 3 or 4.
