Capt US Air Force

He started college at age 15 at St Louis University, then transferred to the University of Notre Dame the following year, graduating in 1948. He graduated from Georgetown Medical School in 1953, then served for two years as a Captain in the 1100th US Air Force Hospital/MEDCOM USAF, stationed at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, DC. He remained in the USAF Reserves until 1974. Following his military service, he practiced family medicine for more than 35 years, first in Wenona, IL, then MD.

He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Joseph Cleary Jr and Clarys Marie Fulton Cleary; his wife of 53 years, Ruth Jarboe Cleary; two brothers, Michael J Cleary and Robert Joseph Cleary; and a sister, Sr Audrey Cleary OSB. He was survived by his three daughters; two sons; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; two grandsons; four sisters; and two brothers.

Interment for him and his spouse on April 7, 2022.
