PATRICIA LOREE HAWKINS Patricia Loree Hawkins of Chico was born on April 15, 1939 in Chico. Patti (as known by family and friends) passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2022 from Parkinson's. Patricia is survived by her husband, James W. Hawkins, sons, Mark and Michael of Lovelock, CA., grandchildren, Mike, Danielle, Joe and seven great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents-Vivian and Virgil "Kern" Pyle, brother, Jimmy Pyle son, Todd and grandson, Todd. Patti grew up attending Durham schools and graduated from Durham High School in 1957. Upon graduation Patricia met and married James W. Hawkins of Chico in 1959 and moved to Las Vegas where James would follow in his families footsteps and start his masonry apprenticeship. They then moved to Concord, CA where they would live for the next 38 years raising their three sons, Mark, Michael and Todd. Patti was a 10 year breast cancer survivor and was not slowed down by the medical treatments that she received. She loved working in the garden attending to her roses and multiple pots of flowers. She could always tell you the name of each plant. Growing up in Durham, Patti was able to raise a horse and his name was "Keno". In conversation she would always mention how much she loved that horse. Her love of animals wound not stop with her horse, she always had dogs and cats. She never met a dog she did not like. Patti worked and retired from the Longs Drug in Concord until moving back to the Durham/Chico area. After retiring from Long's she was not ready to settle down so she would go down to the doughnut shop and that is where she met Rosie. Patti would meet there daily for coffee and an old fashion doughnut and many a story would be told. Patti had a great sense of humor and an infectious smile and laugh. On Sunday's Patti and here Auntie Lorraine, cousins Gregg and Susan would meet for breakfast, sometimes taking a ride as far as Chester to the Copper Kettle. Patti always loved photography and always trying out the latest camera. She printed most of her photos at home and would frame them. Patti and Jim would always go on the annual family Philbrook fishing trip in October and bring the delicious box of doughnuts from Rosie's. Patti loved that area and she and her Mom would camp on the West branch of the Feather River in the summer with family. She grew up camping in that area. Her great grandparents ran the "Chaparral" there. Viewing will be at Newton-Bracewell on Monday April 4, 2022 between 6-8pm. A service will be held at Newton-Bracewell on Tuesday April 5, 2022 at 11:00 am with a get together immediately following the service at the Eagle's Hall, 20th/Mulberry in Chico. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Kischner Wildlife Sanctuary.
