Resided in Virginia and enlisted in Company B (Nat Macon Guards), 30th North Carolina Infantry in Warren County, North Carolina at the age of 21 on August 16, 1861. Present or accounted for until he surrendered at Appomattox Court House, Virginia on April 9, 1865. Edward was awarded Francis S. Bartow Chapter Daughter of the Confederacy "Crosses of Honor" at The Veterans, Camp 819 in 1907 in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.
