Omaha, Jan. 21 - Colonel M. J. Green, a well-known Illinois man, and colonel of the Eleventh Missouri during the war, died here last night. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 1-22-1875

Capt. Freeman yesterday received a dispatch from Omaha, announcing the death of Col. M. F. Green and stating that the remains will leave there for Springfield to-day. The friends and acquaintances of the deceased gentleman will make arrangements for their proper reception and interment. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 1-22-1875


Col. Green is one of eight remaining stones still standing that circle the Civil War monument. He is buried in this circle.
