Janet E. Benson, 66, of Marseilles, passed away Monday March 28, 2022 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating.
She was born April 18, 1955 in Dillon, SC to Melvin and Eula Mae (Cook) Smith. On July 22,1972 she married Clarence Benson of Ottawa who survives.
Janet and her husband owned and operated PJ's in Marseilles for 34 years. She was very close with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband: Clarence; two sons: Chris (Kari) Benson of Paw Paw and Carl Benson of Marseilles; seven grandchildren: Samuel, Ella, Abby, Christopher, Ruthie, Carl Jr, and Caitlyn Benson; and her siblings: Franklin Smith of Dillon, SC; Peggy Howell of Hartsville, SC; Larry Smith of Earlville; and Susan Walker of Oswego.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers: Melvin Smith, Jr. and Eddie Smith.
