Beverly "Bev" Ann Smith, passed away on March 11, 2022, at Providence Centralia Hospital surrounded by her loving children. She was 83 years old.

Bev was born in 1938 in Mount Vernon, Washington, to *Michael and *Helena Weltzine [sic], where she grew up with her two brothers, Howard Weltzine and Johnny Bassilli.

Bev attended schools in Port Angeles and Poulsbo, Washington and also in Fairbanks, Alaska, eventually attending the Portland Art Academy in Portland, Oregon.

Bev married Raymond Dean Smith in July of 1960, making their home together in Centralia, Washington. Bev had five children, Michael (Cindy) Clark of Salem Oregon, Steven Smith of Centralia, Deborah Hanson of Centralia, David Smith of Centralia, and Doug (Renée) Smith of Centralia.

Once her youngest son started school, Bev jumped into the workforce and started her 34-year long career as a counselor at Maple Lane School for the State of Washington. Bev shared many memories about working with the youth at Maple Lane and would often joke that she "could handle anything at Maple Lane after raising my five."

Bev's love of books could be seen throughout her home. As of the last count, she owned over 400 classics that are now being donated to the Lewis County Branch of the American Association of University Women. Along with her passion for reading, she enjoyed drawing, listening to classical music and watching classic movies.

In addition to her five children, Bev sadly leaves behind seven grandchildren: Anthony Smith, Ashley Smith, Tyler Clark, Corey Clark, William Hanson, Enember Jones and Colin Jones. She also leaves behind one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bev is preceded in death by her husband Ray, her parents, and her son-in-law Bill Hanson.

Bev will be laid to rest at Claquato Cemetery with the remains of her beloved cat Tam, next to her husband Ray and her mother. Services will be a private family gathering at her daughter's home on a future date.
