1693 Feb 21 – Thomas Hammond of Balto. Co., Gent., and wife Rebecca, late widow, relict, and legatee of Thomas Lightfoot, conv. 125 a. Gist's Rest and 100 a. now in possession of John Beecher and his wife to Richard Gist, son and heir of Christopher Gist (RM #HS, 417). (Miller & Barnes, 1987)

1705 Sept 10 – Richard Gist conv. to Richard Cromwell "Gist's Rest" and part of "Rebecca's Delight' land which Thomas Hammond and wife Rebecca conv. to said Gist; tract "Gist's Rest" 125 a., and another adjacent tract, 100 a. part "Rebecca's Delight"in all 225 a.; Gist's wife Ziporah consents (IR #PP, 192). Edith Cromwell was born abt 1660 in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England, and died 1694 in MD. Her will was dated 23 May 1694 and John Beecher (3rd husband) appeared 16 Jun 1694.

She married Christopher Richard Gist bef 1679 in England, [THE FOLLOWING HAS NO DOCUMENTATION to support it but has been given in some research: son of Christopher Gist and Anne Washington] and grandson of Lawrence Washington (the great great grandfather of President George Washington). Anne Washington died leaving no issue. Christopher remarried but that line died out 2 generations later.].

Reputedly daughter of a Cromwell who was a cousin to Oliver Cromwell the Protector, granddaughter of Oliver Cromwell of Hinchenbrook. The two most prominent researchers of the Cromwell family found no basis for this relationship.

Elizabeth Bourchier, dau. of [Sir] Ralph Bourchier and Mary Bannister. James Bourchier's father as John Bourchier [Bouchier], 2nd Baron Bemers and he m. Elizabeth Bacon b. 1474. Elizabeth is listed as "partner".
