Loving spouse, father, and grandfather James Lee "Jim" Chapman, 81, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2022, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his family members.

Jim was born March 17, 1941 in Tipton, Indiana, to Orris Maxwell Chapman and Alice Lucille Teter Chapman, and is the older brother to Mark Chapman.

He graduated from Western High School in Russiaville, Indiana, in 1959 and San Diego State University in 1963. He then joined the Air Force and married Karen Sue Cole Chapman, June 23, 1963.

During their marriage of 59 years, they moved many times around the country with his job in the pharmaceutical industry. Upon his retirement in 2001, they lived in Sun City Palm Desert, California, before moving to Sun City Georgetown, Texas, in 2006.

While living in Sun City, he enjoyed being active and participating in various clubs such as the Computer Club, and traveling with Zoomers. He and Karen enjoyed travels that took them all over the world. He was very active with the Sun City Eagle Booster Club, and it gave him great joy to support the various athletic teams at Georgetown High School.

Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed playing various musical instruments, was in several bands, and sang in many choirs. He was always very active in the community through the Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a Shriner.

Jim is survived by Karen S. Chapman of Georgetown, Susanne Hutchinson (Jeff Hutchinson) of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Michael Chapman (Cheryl Chapman) of Georgetown, grandsons, Adam Hutchinson of Brooklyn, New York, and Nolan Chapman of Georgetown, Texas, and brother, Mark Chapman (Rebecca Chapman) of Mason, Ohio.

Please join us in celebrating Jim's life at a memorial service to be held at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, 5404 Williams Drive in Georgetown on Wednesday, April 27 at 10 a.m.

His remains will be interred at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with family present.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at michaeljfox.org
