Mr. Henry Benson died yesterday morning at this residence, No. 6 West Cary Street, in the seventy-six year of his age after an illness of several months.

His health has been failing since last September, but it only in the last few weeks that his illness became alarming. Death was caused by tumor of the stomach. His end was peachful and tranquil.

Deceased was born in Fredericksburg, but moved to Charlottesville when quite young. Here he spent his life until he moved to Richmond about five years ago.

Mr. Benson was twice married. His first wife was Miss Bettie Brown, of Lynchburg, and by that union there are four children living - three sons and one daughter. He next married Miss Fannie Jarvis, of this city, who survives him with two sons and three daughters.

Mr. Benson was a member of Grace Episcopal church and a consistent Christian. He was an estimable man with many friends, and though quiet and unobtrusive, was greatly loved by all who knew him well.

His remains will be taken to Charlottesville today for interment in the family section in that city.
