Mrs. Louemma Michels, 79, of Calhoun, passed away early this morning at the Richland Memorial Hospital after a long period of illness.
She was born on March 22, 1888, near Noble, daughter of W. E. and Lavina Patterson McDowell. She was married July 25, 1906, to Charles R. Michels, who passed away on December 10, 1951.
She had made her home in the Calhoun neighborhood for the past 28 years and prior to that, lived in Olney for many years.
She was a member of the Calhoun Methodist church.
She is survived by two daughters and three sons. They are Mrs. Dorothy Wilkerson of Calhoun, Mrs. Tressie Scott of St. Louis, Myrl and Joe Michels of Calhoun, and Bert Michels of Olney. A brother, Than McDowell of Calhoun, and a sister, Mrs. Zadie Fulk of Olney, also survive. Ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Rainey Funeral Home with Rev. Leland Hooper of Clay City in charge. Burial will be at Haven Hill cemetery. I Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Friday.
