She was born in Mattydale and had resided in Syracuse for eight years and in Mattydale since 1947.
Mrs. Whelan was graduated from the Convent School.
She was a bookkeeper for the former Kirsch Dairy, Inc., Brewerton Road in Mattydale, which was founded by her parents.
Mrs. Whelan was a communicant of St Margaret's Catholic Church, Mattydale, and was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the church choir.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest J. Whelan; four sons, John M. of Boston, Mass., Edward J. of Burnsville, Minn., Roger T. of Elbridge and Mark A. Whelan of Rochester; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Porn of Camillus; 10 grandchildren; four sisters, Miss Martha Kirsch, Mrs. Fred Root of North Syracuse, Mrs. Edward Werner .of Liverp6ol and Mrs. Donald Turo of Sandy Creek; and a brother, Bernard A. Kirsch of Mattydale.
Services will be Thursday at 8:15 a.m. at the Whelan Bros. Funeral Home and at 9 in St. Margaret's Church, where a mass will be offered. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9p.m. tomorrow.
