James "Jim" Carnes of Lubbock, Texas, was called home after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born January 31, 1953 to William and Newma Timms Carnes. He was a graduate of Slaton High and Amarillo Community College, and a long time employee of Texas Instruments. We celebrate his life in his love of astronomy, his skill as a Luthier, and his love of the outdoors.

Jim is survived by his sons and their family: expectant parents, Joel and Susie of Las Vegas, Nevada; Jeremiah and Sheryl and their daughter, Rebecca of Lubbock; and Joshua of Lubbock. His sisters and their family, D'Ann and Mac Mosely of Hurst; Kayleen and Joe Beavers of Beaumont; and Jean and Larry Cates of Austin also survive.

Services were held Wednesday, November 7th, at Englunds Funeral Service, in Slaton. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts to send memorial donations to the West Texas Parkinson's Foundation.
