Homer Allen "H.A." Croom, Jr., 83, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022 at his home. He was born December 19, 1938 in Martinsville, VA to the late Homer Allen Croom, Sr. and Ida Lillian Coleman Croom.
Homer graduated from Martinsville High School in 1957 and attended VPI. He married the love of his life, Freeda Jones Croom in 1963. They moved to Knightdale, NC in 1979 and he owned and operated Coastal Bike Supply in Wendell. Homer was very involved in the community and BMX Racing events.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Freeda; and his son, Homer Allen "Trip" Croom III and wife Valerie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara C. Beck.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 12:00 to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545 followed by a celebration of his life to begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Oakwood Cemetery, 107 Cemetery Street, Martinsville, VA 24112.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
