Diana (Carter) Grant
August 29, 1958 ~ March 13, 2022 (age 63)

Diana Carter Grant, age 63, passed away, March 13, 2022, following an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. William E. Grant; her father, the Rev. Ross Carter; maternal grandparents Charles and Mal Silcox Hahn of Pensacola; and paternal grandparents J.A.P. Carter, Sr. and Kitty Bell Carter of McLaurin.

Diana is survived by her loving daughter Molly Whigham (Matt); her mother Betty Hahn Carter; and her siblings Scott Carter (Sue Ellen) and Melody Griffith (Eric). Diana was affectionately known as Aunt D by nieces, nephews and grandnephews including Mallory, Allison (Hunter), Carter (Kaila), Olivia, Christian, Brennan, Brooks and Ross.

Diana was born on August 29, 1958, in Pensacola, FL, to the Rev. Ross and Betty Hahn Carter. Diana moved to Mobile at an early age followed by a move to Mississippi. She graduated from Waynesboro High School before graduating from Jones County Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi.

She was a devoted educator in Alabama where she taught kindergarten before moving to Saraland Middle School where she retired after a 30-year career.

After retirement, Diana moved to Gulfport to be closer to her beloved family.

Diana loved spending time with her family and loved to travel, especially with her daughter Molly. Her favorite trip was to several countries in Europe with her mother, daughter and niece. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church where she regularly attended service at Burton Memorial UMC. Diana was also a lifetime member of the University of Southern Mississippi's Alumni Association.

Diana was warm, friendly and outgoing to every person she came across. Her loving nature and kind spirit will certainly be missed by all who knew her.

A service will be held on March 17 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m. at Riemann's Family Funeral Home on Three Rivers Road in Gulfport.

The interment will be held at McLaurin Cemetery in Hattiesburg [sic].
