THE NEW NORFOLK MURDER.
William Davis, convicted of the wilful murder of Andre Caasavant, at the Back River, on the 25th of December last.
His Honor, in passing sentence, said that it was evident that the prisoner's besetting sin was drunkenness, — and to that vice, acting on the prisoner's temperament, was to be attributed his pre sent awful position. After a most patient trial, the prisoner had been found guilty of a most heartless and cold blooded murder upon one who, from his position, his manifest kindness to the prisoner, even on the night of the murder, was entitled to look to him for protection. instead of that, without one moment's space for repentance, or making his peace with God, he was hurried by the hand of the prisoner into eternity. His Honor then feelingly besought the prisoner to prepare to meet his Eternal Judge, and passed upon him the sentence of death, and directed his body to be dissected.
