Wanda Lee O'Neal, 89, of Streator, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at Liberty Village in Streator.
Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at the Solon-Telford Funeral Home in Streator. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Fr. Mark Geisler will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
She was born September 30, 1925 in Streator, a daughter of Lester and Helen (Hrap) Hunter. She married James O'Neal on November 7, 1952 at Christ Episcopal Church in Streator. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1985.
She is survived by a son: Terry (Marci) O'Neal of Streator; grandchildren: Eric O'Neal of McCalla, Alabama and Dawn (Joe) Hockett of Streator; great-grandchildren: Shawna, Brianna and Lane Elmore of Streator, Sean and Ryan O'Neal of McCalla, Alabama; a sister: Dolores (Dale) Chiavene of Streator; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Born and raised in Streator, she attended Streator schools and graduated from Streator High School Class of 1943.
She and her husband moved to Florida in 1977 and she returned to Streator in 2004. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked in nursing through the years. She worked for Dr. Daniel E. Dosoretz at 21st Century Oncology while she lived in Florida. She previously worked at the Ottawa Courthouse for County Clerk George Hunter for over 30 years. She was also Supervisor of Elections for many years.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.
