April 7, 1954 - Jan. 1, 2008 BREMEN, Ga. — Tony L. Reed, 53, Bremen, passed away Jan. 1, 2008, at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Ga., after a brief illness. He was born April 7, 1954, in Anderson, Ind., and lived here until moving to Georgia in 2005.Tony retired in 2004 from Guide Division of General Motors in the skilled trades after 31 years of service. He currently was employed at OFS Brightwave in Carrollton, Ga., as a senior mechanical technician.He graduated from Highland High School, received a degree from Vincennes University in aircraft maintenance and completed a four-year apprenticeship with General Motors. Tony was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 663.He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joy (Spaulding) Reed; children, Brian J. (Anne) Reed of Atlanta, Ga., Jeffrey L. (Rheanna) Reed of Ranburn, Ala., and Melissa D. (Shannon) Owen of Douglasville, Ga.; sister, Leta (Gary) Cunningham of Anderson; mother-in-law, Betty M. Spaulding; grandchildren, Connor A. Reed, Vincent J. Reed, Travis L. Reed and Jillian M. Reed; two nieces, Trina VanBlarcum and Loranda Trissel; and a nephew, Matthew Cunningham. Also surviving are special friends, Mike and Joann Baldwin.He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Donna J. (John) Reed.Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, with the Rev. Jeff Floyd officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the South Chapel.
