Carl E. Salyer, age 92 of Marion, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Presidential Center of Marion.
Carl was born July 8, 1929 in Richwood, the son of Jesse James and Edna "Faye" (Blanton) Salyer. He was a graduate of Waldo High School. On January 23, 1951 Carl was enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. After his time in the Army, Carl went to work for the Whirlpool Corporation, retiring from there as Maintenance Supervisor.

Carl was an avid golfer and enjoyed many fishing trips to Fifty Lakes, Minnesota. Sanibel Island, FL, was a favorite destination to escape the cold Ohio winters. He was a longtime member of the Marion American Legion Post #7201 and Waldo American Legion Post #605.

He is survived by his son, Christopher (Garnet) Salyer; daughter-in-law, Patricia Salyer; grandchildren: Alex (Olivia) Salyer, Mackenzie (Ryan) Crisler, Thomas Salyer, and Andrew Salyer; great grandchild: Ryleigh Crisler and one on the way; siblings: Robert (Martha) Salyer, Gary (Sandy) Salyer, Dave (Joyce) Salyer, and Pat (Paul) Coonfare and longtime girlfriend of 30 years, Barb Maners.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents; sons: Michael Salyer and Mark Salyer; and siblings: Steve Salyer, Betty (Jack) Smith, and James Salyer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel from 5PM to 7PM; funeral service will be Wednesday at the funeral home at 11AM; burial will be in Waldo Cemetery.
