Oswald Syers and Ann Hargreaves were married in the Parish Church of Manchester on 31 March 1818. It was his second marriage, her first. Oswald was a "stationer" or seller of books, paper and writing implements. Buried in this grave are Oswald and his wife, Ann; their daughter Margaret and her husband, William Waterton Hill; and the latter's infant daughter, Margaret Mary. There is another gravestone in Barton Cemetery dedicated to the lives of some of William and Margaret's children and grandchildren.
