Essie's mother, Medora, was daughter of John Franklin Coffman (1805-1884) and Elizabeth Irvin Cobb (1813-1888) of Hopkins Co, KY. Medora's mother (according to DNA evidence) was descended from Ambrose Cobbs (1603-1655)(#41180724), who emigrated from Kent, England to the vicinity of Jamestown, VA about 1635, less than 30 years after the first American colony was founded. Essie was the niece of State Legislator William H. Coffman and grandmother of State Senator Johnnie B. Rogers. Mother of Dora/Dorothy Merle Finegan Owens(# 35170853).
