Davis
Essie M. Davis, 73, of Corpus Christi died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007 in Corpus Christi. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 31 at Springfield Baptist Church in Rockdale with the Rev. S.L. Ross officiating and burial following at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
Mrs. Davis was born Jan. 16, 1934 in Rockdale to William M. Jackson Sr. and Seewillow (Colvin) Jackson. She married Alvin Davis in 1952 in Rockdale.
She was a homemaker and member of the St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, former member of Springfield Baptist Church and sang in the choir at both churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; brother, John E. Jackson and sister, Evelyn Moultrie.
Survivors include: one son, Alvin Davis Jr. of Houston; seven daughters, Alvyn M. Davis and husband, Lawrence of Taylor, Shirley A. Anokute and husband Louie of Corpus Christi, Marsha D. Washington and husband, Ray of Round Rock, Carol Sue Daniel and husband, Jimmy of Houston, Sandra Kay Odukoya and husband, Victor of Corpus Christi, Judith G. Davis and husband, Wayne of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, W.M. Jackson Jr. of Lubbock, Larry Jackson and wife, Sandra of Rockdale; four sisters, Mae Crashaw of Rockdale, Sandra Richards and husband, James of Rockdale, Avis Norwood of Temple and Pam Ellis and husband, Arthur of Rockdale.
