Mrs. Mae Joyce Jackson Cashaw was born in Rockdale, Texas on June 25, 1939 to the parentage of William Monroe Sr. and Seewillow Colvin Jackson.

Mae Joyce graduated from Aycock High School in Rockdale, Texas and graduated as Valedictorian despite the fact that she worked as sharecropper during the first half year of school from grades 9 through 12. Mae Joyce was a daycare teacher for many years and shaped many lives for four year old children in Rockdale. She attended Temple Junior College in Temple, Texas where she trained to become a licensed vocational nurse. Mae retired from nursing in 2006.

She was taught the importance of Christ at an early age. She joined Springfield Baptist Church, where she was the director of the Junior and Senior Choirs. Mae was also a founding member of the singing group named the Hardemon Echoes. Mae sang solos at numerous churches and her signature song was "I Made It".

Mae Joyce's main loves were God, her family, singing and reading books. Due to the passing of her older sisters, Mae Joyce held the role of Matriarch for the Jackson Family. She will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mae Joyce suffered from congestive heart failure and its related complications. She received wonderful care from the Wellmed Medical Group and St. Luke's Baptist Hospital employees and physicians.

Mae Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, William Monroe, Sr. and Seewillow Colvin Jackson; one step-son, Tommy Cashaw, Jr.; one brother, John E. Jackson; two older sisters, Essie Marie Davis and Evelyn Moultrie; one nephew, Michael Davis; and one niece, Dwann Jackson Bradfield.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Dr. Tommye Joyce Austin (Apple); one son, Charles Ervin Cashaw; one grandson, Charles Tommas Cashaw; and one son-in-law, Fermon Austin, Jr.; one step-daughter, Pamela Williams; one step-son, Clifton Cashaw; three sisters: Sandra Richards, Seewillow Avis Norwood, and Pamela Ellis (Arthur); two brothers, William Monroe Jackson, Jr., Larry N. Jackson (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Jimmie Thomas, Doris Wilburn, and Dorothy Nelson. Mae Joyce had many specials friends including Vickie Barry, Peggy Morrison, Jeanette Walker, and her Maui Sands neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
