Beverly McGlon Adams, 70, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021.

She was born on January 22, 1951 in Jasper, Alabama to James Alton McGlon and Imogene Perry McGlon. She grew up in Troy, Alabama and attended Charles Henderson High School and Troy University. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and went on to complete her Master of Education at Auburn University in Montgomery.

In 1972 she married her high school sweetheart, Harry Adams, and they moved to Montgomery, Alabama where she taught 4th and 5th grades at Wares Ferry Road Elementary, Brewbaker Elementary, and Trinity Presbyterian School for a total of 33 years.

She was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for many years where she could be found serving food for youth events, hosting youth fellowships at home, or chaperoning trips.

She was also a faithful member of Frazer United Methodist Church where you could find her serving coffee most Sunday mornings and where she was a member of the Koinonia Sunday School class. After moving to Memphis, she was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church where she participated in women's bible study and was a member of the "60+" Sunday School class.

Beverly was the consummate hostess who enjoyed having friends and family over to celebrate the big and small milestones in life, and no one left her house hungry. She loved gardening in her yard, growing her own vegetables, and making her famous pickles.

She loved her friends, her family, and the beach was her happy place! Her favorite job was being "Bevy" to her grandchildren. She made extra effort to be at piano recitals, ballet performances, baseball games, and school events to cheer them all on.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Harry Adams; her daughters Allison DeJarnette (Ryan) of Fayetteville, AR and Blakely Fletcher (Dan) of Memphis, TN; six grandchildren- Mary Blake, Janey, and Daniel Fletcher, Barton, Butler, and Bishop DeJarnette; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Wanda and Larry Adams; her nieces and nephews, and a slew of Perry cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Dennis Alton McGlon.

The family will begin receiving friends at noon in the Fellowship Hall of Independent Presbyterian Church, 4738 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, TN on Friday, April 16, 2021 prior to a memorial service at 2pm.
