Della Clay, 80, of Guymon died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at her home.
Della Jo (Groves) Clay was born to John Frank and Annie Edith (Puett) Groves on July 18, 1927, in Shamrock, Texas. She attended grammar school in Samnorwood, Texas, and graduated from Samnorwood High School in 1944.
Della was united in marriage to Archie B. Clay in Wellington, Texas on April 19, 1946. They had six children. She moved to Guymon with her husband and family in 1975.
Della owned and operated the Cake Top in Guymon for many years. She also managed the Ambassador Restaurant many years while continuing to decorated cakes out of her home. She retired from decorating and catering in 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie B. Clay Sr., one daughter, Marilyn Buck; one son, Archie B. Clay Jr. and two brothers, LeRoy Groves and James Murrell Groves.
Survivors include four daughters: Carolyn and Gerry Barker of Sayre, Okla., Donna Glover of Guymon, Debbie Costner of Guymon and Carla and Bill Seymour of Guymon; 20 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and one sister, Edna Pearl Bell of Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Eastside Church of Christ with George Caudell and Darren Buck officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the direction of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
