Details of his life as reflected in official records are very sparse.

He appears in the 1906 Canada Census of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta as "Peter Derbacy", a 29 year-old bachelor, boarding in a dwelling in Winnipeg's Ward 5. That document tells us he came to Canada in 1904.

The next record is of his marriage with Lena: MB Marriage Registration #1907,001422 as "Basilissa Horbatink" and "Peter Derbacz", on November 17, in Winnipeg.

From there, the last possible trace of him is a badly incomplete death registration which provides the following, very opaque, information: MB Death Registration #1913,036487 as "Page 2 Derbacz"; estimated age at death: 999 years, with no place of death within the province.

Given the life story of his spouse, Lena, this would appear to have captured the near totality of his passing in the history of the area.

The possible exception to that summary is the fact that records appear to indicate the couple lost three children very young. No birth records have come to hand for them, but there appears to be no other Derbacz family having children in Winnipeg in the years from 1907 to 1913, so the presumption of Lena's motherhood is justifiable, at least until more evidence comes to hand.

The three children's names as recorded, their death dates, the children's ages at the time of their deaths, and the provincial death registration numbers are as follows, all of them having passed away in Winnipeg:

Katrina Derbach, July 21, 1911, 14 days, #1911,005574
Peter Derbich, Aug 25, 1912, 4 months, #1912,005018
Peter Derbacz, June 24, 1913, 6 months, #1913,036486

No graves for these young ones have been identified.
