- The death certificate says born in Pleasant River, Queens County, Nova Scotia.
- The death registration of some of his children say their father was born in North Brookfield.
- The Family Search Site lists his birth place as Chelsea and they also show that his sister Eliza was born in Chelsea.
I have recorded his birth place as North Brookfield as his Father John Ramey is shown as born in North Brookfield, and John probably stayed home for awhile after he was married and worked on his family's farm as well as working on other farms in the Pleasant River Road area.
The birth locations from this period are sometimes recorded incorrectly today because records of place of birth "Pleasant River Road" are transcribed as just Pleasant River. Pleasant River Road is a name no longer used to describe the area of what is now East Clifford, West Clifford, Bakers Settlement and part of Chelsea.
Stephen married Mary A. Pierce and died in 1905. (Photo of death certificate posted on this memorial)
