This is a town-owned cemetery. The earliest burial occurred in 1713. There are about 300 stones throughout the site, including within the trees.

This cemetery is on the site of the First Church in Dighton. The site was in use as a church from 1709 to 1765. During a dispute about where a new church would be built, the First Church burned to the ground. This site has been exclusively a cemetery since that event. The new church was built in an area called Buck Plain.
