Veronica Sheedy, 58, of Seneca, was pronounced dead on arrival to Edwards Hospital in Naperville on March 8, 1975. She was in a one-car accident on Jefferson Street in Naperville. She had been to church and was returning to the home of her daughter. Her car veered off the road, went through a guardrail and landed upside down in the west branch of the DuPage river. The water was reportedly only about waist deep.

She was born April 19, 1916 in LaSalle, a daughter of Stanley and Louise (Studzinski) Pyszka. She was married in 1941 to Smith Long Edwards in Alabama. He was lost in action on May 4, 1945 while serving in the South Pacific with the United States Air Force during World War II. On November 6, 1950, she married Virgil Sheedy at St. Hyacinth's Church in LaSalle. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca.

She was the first president of the Auxiliary of Catholic War Veterans in LaSalle. She is past president of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter: Carol Lambakis of Naperville; two sons: Jerry Edwards of Mexico City, Mexico and Donald Sheedy of Marseilles; five grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Louise Pyszka of LaSalle; a brother: Raymond Pyszka of Rock Island; and three sisters: Emily (L. H.) Kaufmann of Seneca, Lorraine (Patrick) Lavery of Villa Park, and Connie (Eugene) Bromer of LaSalle.

Her father preceded her in death.
