Elizabeth "Bettye" Doin-Thompson, 98, a former Waterford resident passed away peacefully Saturday February 26, 2022 at her home.

Born in Waterford she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Myrtle Sandercox Bull and was a 1941 graduate of Waterford High School.

Bettye had been employed by the NYS Legislature for 31 years and was a member of the CSEA.

She was the first woman elected to the Waterford Town Board and served there for 18 years.

She was a member of the Women's Republican Club of Saratoga County. Active in community affairs, she was a former member and Past President of the Waterford Lions Club and was a Past President of the Waterford Swimming Pool Association, Knickerbocker Steamer Co. Auxiliary, Waterford Rescue Squad and Waterford Emergency Team Auxiliary. Bettye was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Lansingburgh and was active in American Cancer Society drives.

She had also served as a crossing guard at St. Mary's School in Waterford for a number of years.

Bettye was the widow of Daniel Thompson and George Doin.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas M. Doin of Waterford and Louis R. Doin (Helen) of East Greenbush. She is the sister of Dorothy McIntyre of Mechanicville, the late Earl, Warren, Raymond, Robert and Gerald Bull, Shirley McCarthy, Phyllis Patrick, Marjorie Roberts and Gloria Fonda. 4 Grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Interment will be in Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
