Gladys Mildred Etter, 78, of Marquette Heights, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born April 25, 1943 in Springfield to Jefferson P. and Gladys Mildred (Hahn) Wieties, she married Kenneth Wayne Etter, Sr. on July 21, 1962 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. He died July 16, 2015 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

Surviving are three sons, Kenneth W. (Mary Beth) Etter, Jr. of Manito, Thomas R. (Megan) Etter and Michael A. (Donna) Etter, both of Pekin; one daughter, Lynne R. (Dave) Collins of Kentucky; and two brothers, Jim Wieties of Springfield and Don (Myrna) Wieties of Carlinville.

Gladys was a homemaker and centered her time on family. She loved spending time talking to family and also enjoyed going out to eat. She was known to make her own rules while playing cards and board games on game nights and was fond of her pets. In her early years she enjoyed line dancing, crafting and quilts. If the weather was nice it was a guarantee you would find her out in her swimming pool.

She was a proud recipient of a kidney transplant 14 years ago. She felt blessed to have been chosen and was diligent in caring for her kidney.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
