John Thornton Hulme "Johnny", 74, was born on September 16, 1947, in Elberton, Georgia to the late James Madison Hulme Sr. and Hilda Snellings Hulme. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School in 1965. John enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1967, before the draft. John honorably served his country for twenty-two years of faithful service. John loved his family and friends, always smiling, eager and willing to help, if he could. John married his wife, Juliana Salalila Hulme on August 20, 1970. They have shared a lifetime of love together. On December 29, 1980, God blessed them with a son, Jacob Brian Hulme "Jake", who quickly became the center of their world. John loved golf and taught Jake to love it as well. When Jake married Kama in 2010, John and Julie said they didn't just gain a daughter-in-law but a daughter. John, Julie and Kama have always had a very special relationship. John and Julie love children, they have become "Granddaddy and Granny" or "Nana and Papa" to many children over the years. His love for his wife's family meant sending them to school, clothing them, and sending money to ensure they had proper nutrition and medicine and for this he was faithfully serving God. In early January 2022, John gave his life to the Lord. On February 7, 2022, John ascended to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior.

He is preceded in death by his eldest brother, Donald Hulme and his wife Jean Hulme, both fathers-in-law, Mariano Salalila and Conrad Wuerz Jr. and mother-in-law, Antonina Wuerz.

John is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Julie Hulme; son Jacob Brian Hulme (Kama) of Jacksonville; brother, Doug Hulme (Gail) of Knoxville; granddaughter, Trinity Brannen of Ward; niece Bheng Greene (Troy) and kids Jastine and Ella Greene of Jacksonville, niece Joan Cawili and daughter Rhuanna Cawili of Ward, niece Eva Marshall (Terry) of Malvern, niece Myra Tirado (Richie) and kids and grandchildren of Maryland; nephew, James D.
