Mr. Bobby Gray Bowman, 82, of Mount Airy passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.

He was born in Surry County on March 10, 1939, to the late Jerry and Susie Beck Bowman.

Mr. Bowman proudly served our country in the United States Marines.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Irene Maggie Shaw Bowman; two sisters, Virginia Martin, Louise Beck Bennett; two brothers, Earl Mathies, and Ed Bennett.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters and sons-in-law, Annette Wall and husband Terry, Michelle King and husband Terry, Amber Sweet; two sons, Robert Gray Bowman, Joshua Wayne Bowman; grandchildren, Ashley Osborne, Meagen Harrison, Sarah Wall, Logan King, Rebekah Sylvester, Abigail Wall, Lydia Wall, Haley Sweet, D.J. Sweet, Elizabeth Bowman; seven great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Snow officiating. Burial will follow in Pinnacle United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Solid Rock Baptist Church.
