John Melnick,78,of 2801 Ellwood Road died in his home at 2:45pm Sunday after a short illness.He was born in Jaroslaw Austria,March 12 1888 to Alexander and Sophia Witowich Melnick. He married the former Eva Dobosz in 1911.
Surviving are his wife;two daughters,Mrs. Ann Gumley of Gary Indiana and Mrs. Mary Woods of New Castle;three sons Stephen of New Castle,Frank of the Merchant Marines and George of Warren Ohio,28 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by three sisters and two sons James in 1959,and Peter in 1963.
Friends may call at the Cunningham East Side Funeral Home from 7to9 p.m. today and 2to4 and 7to9 tomorrow.A service willo be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
