VERMILLION -- Edgard Emmit Hammer, 79, retired salvage yard owner, died on Tuesday, October 31, 1995, at Dakota Medical Center in Vermillion. He attended rural school near Elkton.

He married Emily Frances Kopecky on April 25, 1937. She died on March 8, 1949.

He married Florence Hartson on June 30, 1949. She died in April, 1987.

Surviving are six sons, Donald of Trent, Darrell of Vancouver, Washington, Edgar Jr. of Marshalltown, Iowa, Daniel of Sioux Falls, Douglas of Vermillion, and Galen of Sioux City, Iowa; two daughters, Francis (Jessie) Richardson of Jacksonville, North Dakota, and Audrey (Vernon) Prothera of Oskaloosa, Iowa; 28 grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd of New Jersey, and Bert of Washington; and three sisters, Lillian of St. Paul, Minnesota, Adelle of Elkton, and Barbara of Watertown.

Services at Faith Fellowship of the Open Bible Church in Vermillion, burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
