Son of Mr. and Mrs. Gaetano Picozzi of 2318 Broadway.He attended Van Curler and Nott Terrace High schools and was employed by General Electric before he enlisted in the army in April 1940. After receiving his basic training he was assigned to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and was at Pearl Harbor Dec. 7, 1941 when the Japanese attacked. He was a member of the army signal corps.

He has two brothers serving with the army: Staff Sgt Quirrine Picozzi is stationed at Camp Sebert, AL and Eugene Picozzi is at Fort Still, OK

Military veteran who gave his life for his country killed in action in the southwest Pacific Area.

The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, Orlando J. Picozzi, 6978142, who died in the service of his country on May 20th, 1943 in Guadalcanal. The cause of death was listed as Enemy Bombing Raid. He was from New York.
The decorations earned by Orlando J. Picozzi include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
