Funeral services for Mr. Jonathan "Nic" Becton will be conducted at 10:30 AM Tuesday morning, February 15, 2022, at the Prentiss United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Prentiss. The Reverend Rob Webb will officiate. Mr. Becton, age 73, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at his home in Prentiss.

Jonathan "Nic" Becton was born on April 12, 1948, in Dade City Florida to Cleon Roy Belch, Jr. and Billie Carter Belch. After graduating from Oscoda High School in Oscoda Michigan, Nic proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After his discharge, he enrolled at the University of Armstrong in Savannah, Georgia, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. After graduating college, Nic served as a Detective on the Police Department of Chatham County, Georgia. In addition, he also worked as an Undercover Agent for the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration. Later, Nic would spend several years as an Electrical Engineer for the Southern Natural Gas Company. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing and fishing, as well as playing tennis. Nic also took pride in keeping a manicured lawn and also had a passion for reading the books of such authors as Lee Child and Stephen King. Nic especially loved his family and will be fondly remembered.

In addition to his parents, Nic was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph Becton; his daughter, Beami Taylor and his brother Steve Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Magee Becton; his son, Jody Fortenberry, his daughters, Jenn Becton and Kim B. Laster; a sister, LaWanda Grill; his brothers, Gary Belch and Ronald Becton and 7 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 10:30 AM at the Prentiss United Methodist Church.
