John was born on April 22, 1937 in Scranton, PA to Anthony Addesa and Carmella (Arzi). He graduated from Scranton Central High School before joining the US Air Force. John married his wife, Joan, in 1965 and was then stationed in Illeshiem, Germany for three years. He served as a meteorologist during the Vietnam War and retired after 16 years of service. After returning to the states, he and Joan eventually settled in Dothan, AL where they celebrated 54 years of marriage in July 2018. He was a loyal member of First Assembly of God Church in Dothan where he taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon and helped organize a hospital ministry program provided by the church. In addition, he worked for Houston County for 9 years, where he organized a Work Release Program and served as a mentor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Addesa, Jr. and his sisters, Angie and Carmella.
Burial Date March 18, 2019 A service of remembrance will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11 am in Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Benson. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30-11 am prior to the service
