Dale Corcoran, 79, or Mobeetie died Friday, February 4, 2022 in Wheeler.

Services were at 2 pm Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Mobeetie First Baptist Church with Travis Leamon, pastor, and Anthony Sherrell, grandson, officiating. Interment was at Mobeetie Cemetery. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel in Amarillo.

Dale was born on July 29, 1942 in Wheeler. He graduated from Mobeetie High School in 1960. Dale served in the Air Force. After being honorably discharged, Dale worked for the United State Postal Service as a mail carrier in Pampa for many years. After retiring from the post office, he served as mayor of Mobeetie and dedicated much of his time volunteering at the Old Mobeetie Association, where he was very knowledgeable in the rich history of the oldest town in the Texas panhandle. Dale spent countless hours as the caretaker of the Mobeetie Cemetery. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Dale married Melba Rector-Burch on April 2, 1979 in Sayre, OK.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Jeff Corcoran of El Paso, Kevin Corcoran of Amarillo; Barry Corcoran and his wife, Terri, of Midwest City, OK and Scott Corcoran of Colorado Springs, CO; one stepson, Will Burch and his wife, Dana, of Shamrock; one stepdaughter, Melody Sherrell of Copan, OK; Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Viewing was from 2-8 Tuesday and from 10-2 Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Mobeetie.

The family suggests memorial donations the Mobeetie Cemetery or the Old Mobeetie Association.
